L'Oiselière - "the birdhouse" our little taste of paradise
L'Oiselière is a traditional country farmhouse with a truly peaceful setting, surrounded by fields and forests, where deer, wildboar and other wildlife can be found. L'Oiselière itself means "birdhouse" and it definitely lives upto it's name, an abundance of wildlife and birds can be watched from the patio whilst taking a long cool drink. Our resident birds include, buzzards, chaffinches, bluetits, kingfishers, woodpeckers, and our resident pair of turtle doves. Many of our guests enjoy the atmosphere so much that they spend their days in the garden, relaxing, sunbathing, playing boules with the occasional dip in our pool whilst helping themselves to a drink from our honesty bar. The farmhouse is in three parts, some of which date back to the 17th century. The oldest being the cottage, which is currently being renovated into a 2/3 bedroom gite and will be ready for our guests in 2009. The largest part of the property is the main house which is slightly younger than the cottage. The two parts have been joined in a recent renovation to make an L shaped property, this is where the guest accommodation is housed and as such makes it a private suite with it's own entrance. The garden is totally private and enclosed and is about one acre large, it has a small vegetable plot in one corner and a large 6m x 4m above ground wooden swimming pool surrounded by wooden loungers and parasols. The farmhouse is surrounded by beautiful countryside, and is on the edge of a forest where hunting trips can be arranged in season. The river Loir is just at the bottom of the hill and the river L'Aulne is the same distance, where fishing can be arranged either on the riverbank or on boat. Why not leave the car with us and explore the countryside by bike (can be provided) or by foot. We can provide you with various maps and routes in the area and may be even give you a guided tour. Other attractions in the area include tennis, climbing, motor-sports, shooting, archery, theme parks, zoos, shopping and of course countless restaurants offering superb local dishes and wine. There are two beaches nearby (man made lakes) one is at Mansigne, about 5 mins drive away, this offers a beautiful lake with supervised beach area, and the other is at La Fleche, this is a little larger and offers a cafe, a beach, a childrens play area and countless watersports, including windsurfing, sailing, canoeing.
